In all we made 8 different gifts. They have either a pen or chapstick in them. It's our tradition to make homemade cards for Valentine's Day. Usually we make them for the entire class, but I'm on vacation this year so it's not happening. Hehehee. We used a template created by Lynda at Lynda's Quiet Time for the cards and used Regina Andari's tutorial for the Gable box.

recipe:
Al supplies used were from Stampin' Up! with the the exception of the RSVP pen
Stamps: Priceless
Ink: Purely Pomegranate
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Berry Bliss (designer paper), Whisper White, Purely Pomegranate
Accessories: Ribbon Chocolate Chip, Dimensionals, Scallop punch, Slit punch

Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16356734351254858001noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3592005768065227052.post-78721623098289842752008-11-05T17:44:00.000-08:002008-11-05T20:47:18.399-08:00Splitcoast Sketch Challenge #201This was my attempt at Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge 201. Here's the gallery for this sketch.

It's also the color challenge of this week, Pretty in Pink, Kiwi Kiss, and Red Riding Hood. I was so tempted to use the Pink Pirouette instead of Pretty in Pink. I have to say I was really challenged since I already know that Pirouette and Red Riding Hood work, because Stampin'Up designed them that way, scientifically I know that somehow on the color wheel they are harmonious. So I am proud of myself for going through with the challenge. Emily Giovani really has a gift for picking up some really fun, funky colors that work. Me, not so much, I have to play by the rules. I think it's kind of a first born kind of a thing.

This past week I gave up my status as a Stampin' Up demonstrator. It was a very freeing feeling for me. Oh don't get me wrong, I love, love love the company and will remain a die hard fan and customer. I was just a hobby demonstrator for a year, and I have more than enough supplies to keep me stamping for months. I feel good about the decision because it will challenge me to use up what I have.

This is stamping and crafting season for me. The weather is dropping and it's nice to enjoy some creative adventures. This Fall/Winter I want to send more cards to friends. I have a habit of making cards, and then filing them away in boxes. I had a lot of fun creating this card.

Are you a Product or Process Stamper?

This last week, while in a beginning knitting class, I learned that there are 2 kinds of knitters. Well, OK 3 kinds if you fall into both categories. There's the process knitter, and there's the product knitter. She says that a process knitter mainly enjoys the process of it; just knitting or in our case stamping. The process knitter may knit simply to knit and will have no problem just ripping it out. I think that stampers probably fall into the same categories. I am definitely more of a process stamper. It's very hard for me to create more than one of the same card. I like the puzzle presented by a designing a card. Once I figured it out I've no desire to recreate it, alter it maybe, recreate it, no.

I think that this is also related to personality types. If you've ever taken the Myers-Brigg personality test (you can find them for free online) and your end letter is a "J," you're probably more of a product stamper. My personality type is INFP. This is just my personal theory. Which one type are you?

All supplies are Stampin' Up!
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Pixie Pink, Whisper White, Bashful Blue Designer Paper

Ink: Pixie Pink, Bashful Blue, Chocolate Chip

Accessories: Mat Pack, 1/4 inch punch, Close to Coco Marker, Bashful Blue taffeta ribbon
Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16356734351254858001noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3592005768065227052.post-69949423972988075592008-10-09T14:58:00.000-07:002008-10-09T14:58:15.524-07:00Christmas Card #1

This is my first Christmas card of the year! For weeks I have been wanting to participate in one of her color challenges. Finally, finally I had a chance to sit down and play! It's been a long time since I've been in the stamping zone. When I've taken a break, I sometimes go through this period of having to chip my way through to the creative side of my brain. Well, don't get me wrong. I am creative on a daily basis. I have to be with 4 kids and a strong aversion to routine. But, when I'm away from stamping it takes my brain a while to tap into all the possibilities. And once it does...woooah! Sometimes, while in this state, I wake up with a design on my mind. And other times I'll start to trip just off of someone's shirt. Once, while in church I sketched several great cards, off of two shirts a couple of rows up. My husband had to shush me when I exclaimed, what I thought was to myself, "I could stamp that!" I do so love being on the other side, at least until we run out of clean laundry.

All products: Stampin' Up!
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, whisper white, Bella Rose Designer Paper
Stamp sets: Classic Labels , Dotted Autumn, Autumn Harvest
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss
Accessories: Glue Dots, brads (not Stampin' Up!), twill tapeKristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16356734351254858001noreply@blogger.com0
